WEEK THREE: Wednesday

Miss Robin wears the Fauci-Ouchi mask and her awesome t-shirt today at Drama club! Today at Drama Club we worked with Superheroes and Supervillains! Hope plays a Superhero named Spikey. Her arch-nemesis is Miss Deb. She has SUPERVISION and her superweapon is glasses. Siomara was her sidekick. I didn't catch the name or the superpowers, but there seems to have been a tiger purse involved. And a knife... Emmaline plays a Supervillain named Weber. She was kidnapped by a spider and now there is venom in her brain. She has spider instincts. She has been in a long war with her arch-nemesis, Magnet Girl! her weapon of mass destruction is a bionic spider arm, in somehow contains melted spider brains and holds a gem at its center. She can stook webs (or venom?) through her fingertips! Genevieve plays a Supervillain named Demon. She is a shapeshifting cat with mostly invisible wings (unless she needs them). She can change sizes and wears the crown of Eden on her head. Her arch-nemesis is S...

WEEK THREE: Tuesday

As promised Miss Mallory showed up first thing and we learned some sword fighting moves.  We love that Miss Mallory listened to all of our questions and that she was so clear and that she was really patient and kind! After lunch, we journaled about some of our favorite moments over the past two days. This is because our experiences, thoughts, and observations are important.  That was followed by two new group leaders! Noel and Emmaline. Noel led the vocal warmups. Instead of having campers form a circle, she had them form a square. She had campers say, "A box of mixed biscuits in a biscuit mixer" with all kinds of different emotions. She also had campers saying, "Aluminum Linoleum". It's really tricky and hilarious to say these things fast. Emmaline invented some games and then led the campers in Freeze Tag.  We ended camp with two scribes and two casts performing two scenes. Each one had clear characters and a very clear beginning, middle, and end! We'll s...

WEEK THREE: Monday

Since we have covered the general idea of what theatre is in week one and since we explored our bodies as instruments in week two, we are very happy to have arrived here at week three! This week we learn about biography. Today we learned that biographies were the stories of people. And we began to think about what stories we might like to tell or see. Today came with the love-seat exercise. We each took a turn sitting in the love-seat and one by one each camper told us what they loved about us.  Last week we ended up going rollerskating instead of horseback riding. It was just too hot for the horses and the campers outside! We really helped each other out and had a blast on Friday!! Today also included journaling about an inspiring woman (real or fiction) and then getting up and telling the whole room about her. Overall we were inspired by the endurance of certain women. We loved how they just never give up and kept showing up and moving forward. Here are our real and imagined insp...

WEEK TWO: Thursday

Before Drama Club started today we talked with Miss Paula about the value of things. And then we painted our portrait! Today in Drama Club we reviewed our week. Maya led us in a vocal warm-up. And Hope let the warm-up games today.  We learned what a prop is today. It’s anything an actor can hold in her hand or could possibly pick up off of the set. We were presented with a badminton birdie prop and made up stories about it. We even told a one-word-at-a-time story about it around the circle and it ended up having a really long name   Miss Jess brought us Ledo Pizza!  THANK YOU LEDO’S!  It was so good and we ate it so fast, there’s almost no record of it.  After lunch, we had some unstructured playtime. There was chalk and play-doh and jump ropes and hoola hoops and badminton and volleyball and a parachute and a sprinkler and...and...and.. We really enjoyed one another's company and shared ideas and stories. We made pretend food out of the play-doh and served it u...

It was a ton of fun and it came with a wordsearch ! After lunch we went outside and played in the pool of shallow water. Miss Jess ...
