WEEK FIVE: Monday

Can you believe it's the last week of camp???

We started today watching Miss Deb and Noel read a play. It was called, Running on Glass by Cynthia Cooper. Miss Deb knows the playwright. She's been performing variations of this play since the 90's and for a few years through DCPS. So she had special permission to play around with the script today. We first talked about Simone Biles and what it means to be a champion. Then we watched the play.

It featured six different amazing female athletes: Gertrude Ederle, Althea Gibson, Gretel Bergman, Wilma Rudolph, Babe Didrikson, and Mamie "Peanut" Johnson

We then did our vocal and game warm-ups. Genevieve led vocal warm-ups and Hope led games. We had some new and fun tongue twisters. And we played Sherlock and Night at the Museum.  Mondays are sometimes hard. And this week we had everyone back in the room together.  It's been SO LONG! So, we felt really excited. We had a lot of questions. We all looked forward to lunch.

While we had lunch inside Miss Amy and Miss Deb joined their husbands and moved a 4x8' platform over for us. (Special thanks to Zeke's Coffee for the TRUCK!)

After lunch we played a game Miss Deb invented called Trouble in Kid City. We met in three different teams to improvise situations in Kid City. We also contemplated what Kid City would look like. We discovered adults would need a special pass to enter. And candy would be consumed. And there would be trampolines and bounce houses and most definitely NO SCHOOL. Except maybe a brain hookup once a day that uploaded different subjects directly into our brains.

Tomorrow we will explore Kid City more and we will keep building our characters.

WELCOME TO THE FINAL FOUR!!

We'll see you tomorrow at Drama Club.
