WEEK FOUR: Thursday

This was a field trip day!

We finally got to go horseback riding.

Hope was afraid she would be trampled by horses yesterday. But, today she rode TWO TIMES and Tori stood by her side.

There was archery too!

Zeph is all about anime and archery!

We helped each other overcome fears because we are a great team and we are learning to BLOSSOM!

Good day at camp!

This is all thanks to Miss Carol and Bernadette's House!

We know we are important.

LET'S REVIEW...

In week one of Drama Camp, Miss Deb told us about Viola Spolin. She basically invented great things in improvisational theatre. One of her main tenants was that there is no such thing as teaching, there is only facilitating experiences.

We've had A LOT of experiences over this past month. Our first field trip was to Main Event. There we went bowling and we played laser tag. In week two we went rollerskating. For some of us, that was the very first time we ever went rollerskating. Others of us had our own skates, and some of us knew how to go backward and spin. The most important thing is we all shared the experience together.

In week three we went to the African American Wax Museum and we picked a figure there to use to inspire us for work in Drama Club. And now in week four, HORSEBACK RIDING AND ARCHERY!!

THANK YOU MISS CAROL AND MISS PAULA AND MISS ROBIN!!!

Our end-of-week food has been fun too. In week one, we had sandwiches from Sip at C Street Flats. In week two, we had pizza from Ledo's, In week three, we had Afghani food from Maiwand Kabob. Tomorrow, in week four we, will have a lunch of Mediterranean Food sponsored by Olive on Main.

Tomorrow we'll also get music/vocal lesson from Miss Stephanie. She is an opera singer who has toured all over the country and now she teaches.

After lunch, tomorrow we will finalize some loose ends to prepare us for WEEK FIVE!!

Week five will go as follows:
Monday: We'll focus on creating our show. (Miss Deb and Miss Amy will also bring a platform over while we have lunch). And we'll finalize costumes in the afternoon.
Tuesday: We'll continue to focus on creating our show. (Look for blog updates as the show develops!)
Wednesday: We will be sure we have all of the props and costumes, and makeup, and everything we need. We may paint the platform and create our set. And we'll also get a rehearsal in.
Thursday: Dress rehearsal day
Friday: SHOW TIME! We'll rehearse in the morning. Then we'll have MORE PIZZA FROM LEDO's for lunch. After that, we'll review some things. Around 2:00 we'll get into makeup. At 3:00 and beyond we'll get in costume and prepare to perform at 4:00. We're ALREADY NERVOUS!!

Food for our afternoon event on the final Friday will be sponsored by Rustiq in Savage (we'll have savory croissants). And more sandwiches from SIP at C Street Flats!!

We're so excited for week five.

We are working on headshots. Campers have given one another photo shoots. But we are still missing Risa and Genevieve and Moria. Here are the shots we have so far. If you'd like to use a different image, please text it to Miss Deb at 202-236-4078

We'll see you at DRAMA CLUB!!!

Sidebar: There may not be a blog update tomorrow because Miss Deb is leaving right after camp to spend a weekend away without Wifi. As many campers know from lunch conversations, Miss Deb will be picking up her dog Joonbug the Saturday after camp ends. Joonbugs 11 puppies have been halfway pre-adopted and they will be 8 weeks old on Monday. Miss Deb is very excited to get her Bug home again since she had no idea puppies were on the way when she adopted her. So, she'll be doing a quick getaway this weekend before the next chapter begins. Joonbug's adventures continue on.
