WEEK FOUR: Thursday

Image
This was a field trip day! We finally got to go horseback riding. Hope was afraid she would be trampled by horses yesterday. But, today she rode TWO TIMES and Tori stood by her side. There was archery too! Zeph is all about anime and archery! We helped each other overcome fears because we are a great team and we are learning to BLOSSOM! Good day at camp! This is all thanks to Miss Carol and Bernadette's House! We know we are important. LET'S REVIEW... In week one of Drama Camp, Miss Deb told us about Viola Spolin. She basically invented great things in improvisational theatre. One of her main tenants was that there is no such thing as teaching, there is only facilitating experiences.  We've had A LOT of experiences over this past month. Our first field trip was to Main Event . There we went bowling and we played laser tag . In week two we went rollerskating. For some of us, that was the very first time we ever went rollerskating. Others of us had our own skates, and so...

WEEK FOUR: Wednesday

We started Drama Club today with Hope leading vocal warmups and Moria leading games warmup. We played a new game called, "Trouble in Kid City". Miss Deb invented it. It includes all of our superheroes and supervillains, a location, and a situation. Then we performed scenes around all of this.  After lunch, we explored make-up. WE LOVED EXPLORING MAKEUP. And we also made some major strides with costuming. We were very excited to hear that we could keep our costumes after camp. We are missing almost half of our campers this week and we can't wait for them to return next week. Tomorrow we are hoping to ride horses!!! We'll see you at Drama Club.

WEEK FOUR: Tuesday

Our vocal warmup today was led by Maya and our games warm-up was led by Ainsley. Our new favorite game is Night at the Museum. But we also had an active Freeze Tag game today. Mostly, Ainsley has been waiting to yell, "action"! It's one of her all-time favorite things to do.  Today we explored our superpowers. We talked about what makes a superhero a superhero and what makes a supervillain a supervillain. We talked about the phrase, "my word is my bond" and how heroes always keep their word no matter what. And how villains never keep their word. We walked the grounds today and decided we want our final performance to be on the back of the property. It can be buggy back there so we need to prepare for next week. We also reviewed our make-up sketches today that we did with Miss Robin yesterday.  Now that we are getting a clearer idea about our own powers we are beginning to understand what we want our characters to look like. Tomorrow we play with make-up and mo...

WEEK FOUR HAS BEGUN!

Today, Siomara and Hope led our warm-ups. Then, we went outside to play Night at the Museum with Amy. After that, we came back in and played Freeze-Tag. Some of us ate outside for lunch. In the afternoon, we explored our heroes and villains more. We interviewed each other and made some wonderful discoveries. This includes the "Three Sisters".  Tomorrow, we were scheduled to sing with Miss Stephanie . She is just getting back from an opera job in Omaha and had a lot of layovers on the plane, plus they lost her luggage! So, she'll be coming on Friday at 10 or 11. We go horseback riding on Thursday! Miss Deb will still arrive at 10 tomorrow morning and she'll help each one of us hone in on our superpower. We'll also get to show her the superhero makeup designs we did with Miss Robin this afternoon. See you tomorrow at Drama Club!

WRAPPING WEEK 3!

Yesterday we went to an awesome museum! We each chose a character and today we played Night at the Museum and became the statues. Today our lunch was provided buy Maiwand Kabob and we thought it was SO SIMPLE and also SO DELICOUS!! Today, we also learned what a Haiku is and we wrote our own about the characters we created on Wednesday! We'll see you in WEEK 4!
